Yesterday the Green Bay Packers beat the Seattle Seahawks in Leambeau with a final score of 42-20, sending them to the NFC Championship.

The game the Packers played was simply amazing. They came out and fell flat on their faces, turning the ball over twice on their first two possessions, basically digging themselves into a 0-14 hole.

But AFTER they spotted the Seahawks 14 points, they played some of the best football I have seen in a long time. After the horrible start, they went 42-6 in the second round of the playoffs. Their defense gave up only 6 points to the third best team in the NFC. They scored 42 points on a team that was ranked 7th in the NFL in points allowed. This Seattle front four that looked so strong and fast a week ago got manhandled by the Packers line, and bullied by Ryan Grant. And that was in a blizzard!

After the Packers went down by 14, and that snow started falling, I am sure every Packer fan was nervous. 14 points is a lot to make up, but it is a ton to make up in the snow, and echoes of a Soldier field fiasco started drifting, I'm sure, into the heads of a lot of the Favre faithful. But the Packers did what they have done mostly all season, they kept coming.

I give Favre a lot of credit for not trying to get all the 14 points back at once, for sticking with the game plan, and for not turning the ball over. Coach McCarthy gets a lot of credit for most of the same reasons, and for keeping Grant in the game and feeding him the ball, and I give the defense a ton of credit for buckling down and holding the Seahawks to 6 points after that start.

After the two turnovers, the Packers played almost perfect football. I can recall only two mistakes, the running into the kicker penalty and Koren Robinson missing a block on the outside, only two real mistakes after the initial sloppy start. It is not like the Seahawks stopped playing, or came out flat, the Packers just turned it up a notch. The coverage on the Seahawks defenders was incredibly tight, with multiple passes defended that would have been caught. The Packers tackling was stellar, the few times the Seahawks did catch the ball, they were dropped on the spot (Or they dropped the ball). Oh, and did I mention the offense put up a Packers playoff record 42 points? In a blizzard?

Give me the team that showed up yesterday, and I will put them against any team in the NFL, Dallas, New England, The Colts, anyone. In fact, today I am a Dallas fan. I hope Dallas wins, so the Packers can get the rematch.

We are going to go to Dallas, and we are going to score.

EDIT I had the 5th paragraph reading Coach "Sherman". That obviously should have been Coach "McCarthy" Thanks to my Dad for pointing that out. ^^

I agree with most of what you said. Except for the first couple of minutes that Packers played a stellar game. That was by far the best football that they’ve played in years. The Packers took apart a pretty good football team led by one of the best coaches in the NFL. I mean, the Seahawks didn’t stand a chance of winning that game, even after the Packers spotted them 14 points. The only weak spot that I saw on the Packers was the play of Nick Collins. He missed too many tackles.
